Townline’s Hudson District is evolving into a strong community within Victoria. However the site has featured a strong community focus for more than 150 years. Townline wished to showcase the rich history and cultural development throughout the years, especially featuring the origin and path of the Hudson’s Bay Company (formerly housed in The Hudson) as well as the first nation land it was set upon.
We researched the district’s history thoroughly, both factually and visually to create a unique feature that would be a focal point for years to come. A remake of a vintage map is the centrepiece of the structure, using depth and finish to culminate in a one-of-a-kind community feature panel. Due to size and weight of the individual panels a crane was required to hoist the three panels in place.
